Condition Monitoring

Thermal Imaging is widely used for the condition monitoring of machinery and electrical equipment, to predict when the equipment is about to fail.

The benefit of condition monitoring is to:

  • Increase machine lifetime.

Applications for thermal imaging within a condition monitoring program include:

  • Testing for bearing defects;
  • Looking for machinery that is running excessively warm;
  • Testing boilers and pipes for insulation problems to reduce expensive energy losses and catastrophic breakdowns;
  • Checking moulds for thermal stresses;
  • Checking fuses and electrical equipment for loose connections and bad contactors;
  • Checking for phase imbalance on electric motors;
  • Checking for coupling mis-alignment.
